AUSPEV Championship Series 1 Format
Race Events: 3 total events:
1 Indoor Short Track: Fast-paced, technical courses with tight turns and obstacles to challenge precision.
1 Outdoor long Track: International kartway with varied inclines and longer straightaways for higher speed.
1 outdoor Medium track: combination of technical and high speed turns, shorter straightaway
PEV Classes:
Electric Skateboards (ESK8)
Electric Unicycles (EUC)
Race Format:
Each event includes practice, qualifying heats, and the main races. Points accumulate for each event to determine the series champions.
1. Practice Rounds:
Riders have a set amount of time for practice laps on the course to learn turns, obstacles, and surface conditions.
Practice rounds occur before the main races, allowing riders to familiarize themselves with each unique setting.
2. Qualifying Heat:
Riders compete in timed heats to determine starting positions.
Riders are grouped based on the qualifying times, with faster times taking the front starting positions for each main race.
3. Main Races:
Race Lengths:
3 heats of racing: heat 1 standard grid, heat 2 reverse grid, heat 3 standard grid
3 laps per heat
Applies to all tracks
Class Starts: Races are run by class (eSk8 or EUC) to reduce crossover and ensure safety. Each class races separately but on the same track configuration for comparison.
4. Race Points System:
Points are awarded based on finishing positions in the main races.
Top 5 finishers in each class and category earn points
For each race event, points are awarded to riders based on their finishing positions:
Finish Position
Points Awarded
1st 15
2nd 12
3rd 9
4th 6
5th 3
Additional Points and Adjustments:
Bonus passing points for positions gained in reverse grid race heat (ie. racer starts in 4th, finishes 1st = 3 bonus points)
Bonus Points for Fastest Lap:
2 points awarded to the rider with the fastest lap time for each event. This can be achieved in Qualifying or Races.
Encourages riders to push for the best possible lap, adding an element of skill-based bonus that can help in series standings.
Double Points in Final Race:
The final race event awards double points to increase the stakes for the series championship.
This approach keeps the series competitive until the end, as even riders who are behind in points can still make a comeback.
Double Points Structure (Final Race):
Finish Position
Points Awarded
1st 30
2nd 24
3rd 18
4th 12
5th 6
Series Completion Bonus:
5 points awarded to riders who complete all 3 races without a DNF (Did Not Finish).
This rewards consistency and commitment over the series, potentially impacting close championship standings.
Championship Determination and Tiebreakers:
Points Accumulation: series points are calculated by adding points from all five races, including any bonus points.
Tiebreaker: In case of a tie in total points at the end of the series:
The rider with the most 1st-place finishes takes the lead.
If still tied, the rider with the best finishing position in the final (double-points) race wins.
Penalties:
Time penalties for unsafe riding or failure to comply with track regulations.
Time penalties for false start (5 seconds or up to timekeeper’s discretion)
3 false starts = disqualification
Disqualification for reckless behavior or any action endangering other riders or spectators.
Series Finale:
The last event is a “double points” round, giving riders a chance to make up ground or secure their position in the championship.
Safety and Fair Play:
Mandatory Gear Checks:
Riders are responsible for regular inspections to ensure equipment safety.
Riders must meet minimum protective gear standards (e.g., helmets, pads as determined by ESRA).
